The
Children Of The Son – Part One
Introduction
Immediately upon their arrival on Planet Q, the Aten Clan had enslaved the Littles at Site 5, the landing site of the Planet Lander Starship, Memphis, for their own unabashed
greed.
Ar, Akufu and Akun have also mercilessly and violently impressed upon the Littles, the importance of power and control in their new reality by way of their most prominent weapons, the Kotsoos,
the Ray Staffs and the Plasma Power Glove.
Yet, of an even greater concern to the Littles, is if the Atens discover the plans for the Planetary Power Grid, it would give them access to a global transportation
network that could potentially threaten all of Planet Q with enslavement.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Planet Q, a young stone mason will begin his lifelong Quest to find the place where “Giants
Cut Stone With Light”, which will eventually lead him to cross paths with Orlando and Task Force Orion at an important focal point in The Children Of The Son.
The C.I.C. will also return, battling
a group of Things while attempting to rescue captured comrades and after departing Planet Q to assist with the repairs to the frontline Starships of Task Force Orion orbiting Star 767121, Orlando and his Command Crew will be exposed to new, diverse and exciting
technologies.
Technologies like the MOTEL, the mobile Space based Starship dry dock which will repair and retro-fit the frontline Starships of Task Force Orion, while also Star Jumping Orlando and his
Command Crew into and out of a dangerous Trinary Star System.
After continued research by Lt. August on board the Arcadia Medical Starship, he has determined that there is another Pyrthonian on Planet
Q, feeding off of the Littles and creating new Things……Something the C.I.C. will soon discover for themselves during a stealth recon mission.
Volume Three, The Children Of The Son –
Part One will pick up immediately where Task Force Orion leaves off and will follow the story of the Littles of Planet Q as they defend themselves against the various alien species who have descended upon their home World while setting the stage for even more
exciting tales in Part Two.
Stay tuned……

LOCATION: STAR 303416
Just ten Solans days after their departure from Planet Q and just a little over seventeen
years for the Littles…….
Ar, Akufu and Akun of the Aten Clan from the Planet Amun in the Anubis Star System are just one Star Jump away from their destination where they plan to take control of enough of an obscure Planet
located at the lone end of a String of the Galactic Web to produce harvests of various grains and plants to feed a hungry Galaxy.
Especially those inhabitants who refuse to leave their home Planets or Star Systems, even after having squandered
their resources and are completely reliant on Inter-Planetary Commerce to survive.
Once standard orbit has been established around
Star 303417……...
Ar: Akufu…Check for communications signals.
Akufu: Checking…...Nothing on the Galactic Web Band…...they must be alone, as suspected.
Four hours later in orbit above Planet Q.
Akufu: There is a large presence of inhabitants at coordinates 808505.209 next
to some type of large flat stone structure, an open grass area and some other larger structure I cannot make out.
Akufu: And we have separation of the Arachnid
from the Blue Moon and are on our way to the surface of 303417.3!
The silvery disc shaped landing craft Arachnid then detaches from the beneath the Blue Moon Starship and descends in a freefall down towards 303417.3 while its blue and
white electro-magnetic force field protects it from the heat of entry through the atmosphere.
After successfully landing the Arachnid on the
surface of Planet Q……...
Akufu: Sensors indicate an encampment of local inhabitants at five miles out next to that stone structure off in the distance.
Wait now……there are some
very large structures off to the South…...looks like a large rectangle stone slab with some buildings scattered about its surface……whoa, wait…...well, this is interesting.
Ar: And what would that be?
Akufu: It’s a Planet Lander Starship, a Solan ship.
Akun: Wait, I thought you said that the Solans had abandoned this Planet!
Akufu: Well, I do not see any activity and I am
not picking up any energy signatures.
Ar: A Solan Planet Lander Starship? Do you know how old that technology is?
Akufu: Ancient.
Ar: Scroll to the left, let’s take a look at the front of the Starship and the Command Craft……Looks like it has not been attended to for quite a while with all the plant growth around it.
As the window video screen moves to the left and then up, the front of the Planet Lander Starship is visible with its name displayed at the bottom of the ship. It is the Memphis.
Zooming in closer on the Command Craft, it too
is covered with unchecked vegetation, the windows barely visible.
Akun: Looks abandoned to me. And it looks like they left in hurry.
Ar: Hey, you two…...heads up……Looks like we have some visitors.
The Aten brothers then step into their bio-mechanical exoskeleton excursion suits.
Once they are all set, a voice command begins the process to seal up the excursion suits.
They then
activate a series of heads up displays, eye blinking commands to set the air flow and temperature inside the suits as well as to turn on their external speakers so that they may address the inhabitants. Once they are all set……
Ar then places the Plasma Power Glove on his right hand, tightens the three horizontal hand cranks, tightening the Glove to his wrist and forearm.
He then grabs a hold of the vertical hand crank and gives it three good cranks, from
the base of the wrist to the elbow as it makes a ratcheting noise……ratchet, ratchet, ratchet, finally locking the crank in place at the base of the Glove.
Pressing a button on the control panel activates the Glove which causes
a series of electrical sparks to emanate from the fingertips, connecting to each other in a circular pattern to the crackling sound of electricity.
Ar holds the Glove up to his eye level, rotating his wrist for an overall look.
Ar: Alright boys……let’s go light it up!
Akufu and Akun the grab their Ray Staffs at the middle of the poles and slam the back ends to the ground, causing the almond shaped tips to buzz with electrical sparks.
Ar: Akufu, lower the Arachnid to ground level and open the Cargo Bay doors.
Ar then touches a button on the remote and the Kotsoos suddenly reacts by attacking the Littles, standing still in their triangular formation.
As the Kotsoos reaches the first Little, the leader Ceti, its right claws swipes across
his chest from right to left, forming three open, gashing wounds as Ceti cries out in pain and his body is thrust away from the Kotsoos path to a scream of, “Yeowwww”, while blood splatters out from his body in three streams.
The terror is followed up by similar clawing of other Littles by the monstrous Kostoos beast set to the sounds of horror and pain…...the “Ahhhhs’, the “Nooooos” and Whaaaaahhhhs” of death and devastation.
The closest of the gathered Littles begin trying to flee en masse, but alas, the Kotsoos easily claws them into submission until it has five of them under its control.
Ar then activates his Plasma Power Glove in Plasma Grenade Mode and once it is fully charged, a glowing ball of plasma energy has formed in the palm.
He raises his arm up
over his head as he addresses the Littles……
Ar: I am Ar, the Sun God!
As the Littles try to flee the area, they suddenly stop and take notice of Ar and the glowing ball of energy in his hand, as
he yells out.
Ar: Now……Witness my power!
Ar hurls the plasma grenade at one of the Littles, Taylan. As it makes contact, there is a flash of light as Taylan’s body becomes enclosed in
a glowing blue and white plasma energy field.
Plasma field begins to brighten as it pulses three times when just then, the luminosity starts to dim. As the plasma field dims, it also shrinks until nothing is left and Taylan has been
vaporized.
As the rest of the Littles stare, stunned by the plasma grenades effects, Ar then reaches out with his right hand opening the palm of the Plasma Power Glove towards the ground when suddenly five streams of plasma are ejected
out of the fingertips, connecting with five Littles who are assigned the same fate as Taylan
While Ar is inflicting death and pain amongst the fleeing Littles, some have managed to run far enough away to not be in the range of the hand
tossed grenade but are then stunned by the bolts of electricity from the Ray Staffs, falling to the ground, convulsing uncontrollably.
Kaji, one of the new young leaders of the Littles then appears from beyond the clearing and kneels before Ar, bows his head then looks up and addresses him.
Kaji: When do we start, my Lord?
Ar
again touches a few buttons on the remote and another door on the Arachnid opens and out pour twenty-thousand Kats, very small Kotsoos which barely rise to the level between the feet and knees of the Littles.
The Kats begin running
all around the area sending the Littles fleeing as they are curling up around the legs of the Littles, purring while some are hissing and scratching while Littles stand frozen in fear as thousands and thousands of the mini Kotsoos fill the area.
Ar: Have no fear!…….These animals you see before you are Kats.
They are cousins to the Kotsoos and will maintain a vigil on your work efforts and will report back to us, should you not perform as expected.
They see and know all and you will not inhibit their movements. They will watch you.
Each household will take five or more of these Kats as pets. You will feed them. You will care for them. You
will give them attention.
Kaji: Yes, my Lord, Ar……but what is pets?
Ar: The Kats will be treated as a member of your household. Anyone who does not comply will have a visit from
the Kotsoos.
Kaji: I understand my Lord and we will comply.
Akun turns to Ar and Akufu…...
Akun: Heh, heh, heh…...What did I say? Diminutive round heads.…..don’t
you just love ‘em?
Ar then looks at Kaji and around the area at the remaining Littles
and begins to slowly waive his right arm up over his head, which is extended in a stiff locked and upwards facing position.
His palm is facing up towards the sky as the Plasma Power Glove begins a series of connected bright blue and white
electro-magnetic wave connections between the fingers and thumb, swirling around his palm in a plasma energy wave.
Ar then reduces the power of the Glove and once it is turned off, he lowers his arm and steps forward and addresses the
surviving Littles.
Ar: Rest now my flock. Come back here after seven risings of your Star.
Because I come from your Star……your Sun!
I am the Sun God!
I am your Sun God!
These Star risings will be called days and tomorrow will begin a new day. A day of rest.
This new day will be called Sun Day in honor of me, Ar your Sun God who will graciously give
you rest on this day, if you fulfill your work quota for farming on all of the other six days before your return this area.
Those days will be Mon Day, after the Moon in the sky. Do you know Moon in the sky?
Kaji:
Yes, Moon, we seen Moon in sky. We know Moon.
Ar: The on Mon Day, you will honor the Moon.
Kaji: Yes, yes..….honor the Moon. Moon Day!
Ar: No, Mon Day, not
Moon Day. You hear?
As Ar says that he tugs on his right ear lobe while turning his head to his left, in a ‘huh’ motion while looking Kaji directly in the eye.
Kaji: Yes Sun God, Mon Day..….Mon
Day, Mon Day…….only Mon Day.
Ar: Now the next day will be Tsoos Day, in honor of the Kotsoos…...
After AR explains the other five days of the week to Kaji, he tells him that in seven days
from now, he expects to have all the inhabitants of the Memphis village back here and ready to farm.
After sending Kaji on his way, Ar then steps back towards the Cargo Bay door of the Arachnid, relishing in the Aten Clans devastation
upon the Littles of the Memphis village.
Suddenly, in the darkness of the forest surrounding the clearing, something catches Ar’s attention…...he can see a small light.
Ar then makes his way to across
the clearing, careful not to step on any of the Littles who are lying about the ground, either dead or convulsing uncontrollably.
As he approaches the edge of the forest, the light becomes brighter. Ar then reaches out with his left
hand, moves a few branches and steps into the forest.
As Ar nears the light, it is revealed to be a reflection of the terrified right eye of ten-year old Ran Vez, who has just seen so many Memphis villagers by the Plasma Power Glove on
Ar’s right hand.
Ar approaches Ran……
Ar: Well there, who do we have here?
In the reflection of Ran’s eye, the light dims as Ar approaches.
LOCATION: ON A HILL ABOVE THE WANAKU COMPLEX, 549 YEARS LATER……
Cesar: That was a very long time ago……and I was known
as Ran way back then.
Puma Tonku: Ran? That is a funny name. Are you really six-hundred years old, Cesar?
Cesar: I am five-hundred fifty-nine years old to be exact.
Sitting
around a campfire overlooking the Wanaku Complex is Cesar Vez, formerly known by a host of other names during the five centuries that he has been alive on Planet Q.
Cesar is telling the story of Planet Q’s evolution from the time
of the Aten arrival until this day, five-hundred and fifty-nine years in the making.
Encircling the campfire are four children of the Puma clan. Two boys……Puma Tonku and Puma Gonku and two girls……Puma
Vonita and Puma Brandita……
Puma Brandita: They say Puma Punku sit around fire like this when he quests for The Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light because no one believe. Is true, Cesar?
Cesar: Yes, that is true, yet he would not let his dream die and because of that, the Puma Clan are now the proud builders of the Wanaku Complex……
As Cesar turns to his right, he also turns his head to gaze upon
the Wanaku Complex below which is busy with preparations being made for the impending arrival of Marshall De La Viega.
The Wanaku Complex is a gathering place designed by Marshall De La Viega and built by the industrious and creative Puma
Clan.
This is the former landing site of the Planet Lander Starship Wanaku, which was long ago cut up into H blocks and sent to a fiery grave at the center of Star 303417.
Puma Tonku: When can we hear Puma Punku’s
story?
Cesar: Soon. There are a few stories to tell before we get to Puma Punku, but we will get there soon enough young one.
Puma Gonku: And what happened to you? How did you get to grow so
old?
Cesar: That is a long story as well, but it all started there at Site 5, the Memphis site with the arrival of the Aten Clan.
Cesar looks around at the four Little children of the Puma Clan seated around
the fire and takes a deep breath and as he lets it out, he sighs just so slightly.
Cesar: Okay then……so……Let’s just get back to the Atens for now……
LOCATION: SITE 5……549 YEARS EARLIER, PLANET TIME
Ar: Come here little one. Do not be afraid.
Ran is standing still and shaking in terror as Ar approaches him. Slightly taller than most Littles, Ar is towering over the ten-year old Ran.
As Ar reaches his right hand out to grab a hold of Ran’s arm, Ran sees the Plasma
Power Glove and steps back in fear.
Seeing this, Ar pulls his right hand back, then reaches out with his left hand, grabbing Ran by his left arm and slowly walks him out of the forest, into the clearing.
They walk
together along the tree line of the forest towards the Aten’s Arachnid Landing Craft.
Once there, Ar turns Ran around to face the devastation of his people in the clearing.
Releasing Ran’s arm, Ar looks
over the Littles then turns and leans downwards to face Ran as he speaks.
Ar: And what is your name, little one.
Ran looks up at Ar, still trembling.
Ran: I Ra…….Ra……Ran…….
Ran then sniffles back his tears, takes a deep breath to better compose himself.
Ran: I Ran Vez.
Ar then looks back over the Littles and addresses them…….
Ar:
LISTEN TO ME!!! ALL OF YOU, LISTEN TO ME!!!
Once the devastated Littles have focused their attention on Ar……
Ar: We intend to farm this Planet. We intend for you and your people
to do that farming. I will take your Ran here as my Ward
He is now the Ward of Ar and the Aten Clan……and he shall be known as, Ar-Ran.
Go now and return when the Sun has arisen seven more times.
Return with all of your farming tools and we will begin.
Ar turns to Akufu and Akun.
Ar: After the Kotsoos finishes eating have it come back here and stand guard at the Cargo Bay doors.
Akufu
then activates a few buttons on the Kotsoos control panel.
Ar then places his left hand on Ar-Ran’s back and leads him up the ramp of the Arachnid and into the Cargo Bay.
Akufu and Akun then follow Ar and Ar-Ran
into the Arachnid.
As the Cargo Bay doors close behind them, Ar, Akufu and Akun walk over to the excursion suit docking stations as Ar gives the command to pressurize the Arachnid to their exact atmospheric controls.
Akufu: Hey, what about your little Ward here. What if he cannot handle OUR atmosphere.
Ar: Well then, he will have a short time as my Ward.
Akufu leans back into his docking station and reaches
out with his left hand and hits the “Pressurize” command, sending a rush of air into the Cargo Bay of the Arachnid, the same atmosphere as their home Planet of Amun.
The three excursion suits then depressurize and open up from
top to bottom, revealing the Aten Clan’s real bodies, dressed in their blue uniforms that are a one-piece step-in that zips up the middle from the crotch to the neck with the sleeves running down the length of their lanky arms.
Their
elongated heads, previously hidden by the design of the excursion suit, are revealed to Ar-Ran. He is not frightened, just curious.
The very tall and lanky Aten’s then walk over to Ar-Ran who is taking in the Amun atmosphere.
The air has a smell to it. Not quite sure what the smell is, Ar-Ran does know that it is slightly unpleasant.
Ar: Well little one. How do you feel?
Ar-Ran: Feel?
Akun: Yeah, you know little guy. How’s your head? Do you feel dizzy?
Akufu: How about your stomach? How does that feel?
Ar-Ran then sniffs the air.
Ar-Ran:
Smell funny.
Ar: But other than that, you do not feel any different?
Ar-Ran: No, Ran feel same.
Ar: Your name is now Ar-Ran. Say it.
Ar-Ran: I
am Ran, not Ar-Ran.
Ar then walks over to the wall of the Cargo Bay door and picks up a Ray Staff and sets it to a painful stun setting. He then returns to Ar-Ran and points the Ray Staff at him.
Ar: You
are Ar-Ran.
Ar the shoots a blast of electricity at Ar-Ran who falls backwards and onto the floor of the Cargo Bay convulsing in pain.
Ar then walks directly up to Ar-Ran.
Ar: What is your
name?
Shaking uncontrollably, Ar-Ran replies…….
Ar-Ran: I…...I…...Ar-Ran…...Ar-Ran.
Akufu: Hmmmm……interesting. If the inhabitant can
handle our atmosphere, we should be able to handle his. Sensors show only a slightly higher level of Xenon gas than our atmosphere and pressure is negligible.
Ar: Well, let’s see how he feels tomorrow morning. Leave
him here for the night.
Ar, Akufu and Akun turn and walk to the far end of the Cargo Bay towards the vertically oval shaped hatch door.
Ar grabs the hatch door wheel with both hands and gives it a good three spins
in the counter-clockwise direction when there is a loud clanking noise reverberating from the doorway.
Ar pulls on the wheel, opens the door and lifts his foot as he steps over the raised oval doorway and into the hallway.
He is followed by Akufu, then Akun, who seals the Cargo Bay door behind him as Ar-Ran can see the hatch door wheel spinning, then coming to a sudden stop when he hears the loud clanking noise of the door locking……and he is all alone.
Outside the Arachnid, the Kotsoos war beast has taken its place standing guard at the Cargo Bay doors.
It is cleaning the blood of the Littles off of its paws and body while letting out a deep reverberating purrrrrrrr.
Meanwhile, roaming all about the clearing and beyond into the forest are the twenty-thousand Kats released by the Aten’s.
They fill the area as the Littles go about their task of helping their injured and taking away their dead.
The Kats begin following the Littles back to their village which they have named Memphis, after the Solan Planet Lander Starship, thereby rapidly increasing their range on Planet Q.
The Littles find themselves surrounded
by the purrs, meows, reows and hisses of the Kats as they walk the long distance back to their village.
Not moving with the rest of the group of Littles are ten-year old Ar-Ran’s younger brother Moshuh at eight years old and sister
Miri at seven years old.
Miri: Why they take Ran?
Moshuh: Ran home here. RAAAAN!......RAAAAN!!!!
Moshuh and Miri continue to stare at the Cargo Bay door of the Arachnid, careful
not to approach as the menacing Kotsoos war beast has it eyes on them.
The Kotsoos then lets out a deep roar, then a loud hiss while swiping his paw in the air towards Moshuh and Miri.
After seeing this, Moshuh and
Miri slowly back away.
Moshuh: We go, we go.
Miri: Ran…...wait for Ran.
Moshuh: No, Ran gone, we go now.
Miri: No…...Ran?
Moshuh: We come back again. We see Ran again.
Moshuh reaches for Miri, wraps his right arm around her shoulders and turns them around as they begin their long walk back to Memphis village.
Inside the
Cargo Bay of the Arachnid, Ar-Ran has stacked a few of the smaller cargo crates on top of each other, so he can climb up to the window half way up the Cargo Bay doors.
As he reaches the top, he can see Moshuh and Miri walking away, the
last of the Littles to leave the area as he pounds on the window and screams…….
Ar-Ran: MOSHUH!!! MIRI!!!.......MOSHUUUUUUUH!!!!!!!
On the walk back to Memphis village, two of the local craftsmen,
the coppersmith and the village arrow maker give slight acknowledging glances at each other as the Sun is setting on the horizon before them.
In the
darkness of the early morning hours the next day, Mbizu and Bakara meet at a pre-determined, clandestine place known only to the five members of the C.I.C. that have been established at Site 5, the Memphis village.
Yet, in attendance are
only C.I.C. members Bakara, the coppersmith and Mbizu, the arrow maker as two other members, Sekani and Fox had been killed in the Aten Clans attack while Benine, the fifth and final member of this C.I.C. cell is away in a nearby village trying to recruit
future C.I.C. members.
The Memphis cell of the C.I.C. was formed by Orlando and Vai De La Viega prior to their departure as they did with many cells across Planet Q.
Bakara has broad shoulders, a chiseled face and
is wearing his black leather C.I.C. uniform which has a rounded collar and long sleeves down to the wrist.
Mbizu is a slightly older man, but very large in stature, towering over Bakara and most of the Littles of the village of Memphis
and equal in height to the Atens.
Sitting around a wooden table in a cabin in the surrounding forest.
Bakara: Did you see the power of that hand weapon?
Mbizu: It is like the power
the Pyrthonians possess. Plasma energy.
Bakara: And those other weapons?
Mbizu: Looks like an electro-shock weapon of some sort. And that creature!
Bakara: Nothing
like that exists here on this Planet. I wonder where they are from?
Mbizu: Well, one thing is for sure, they are not Gods.
Bakara: You got that right, but did you see the look on the local population?
Mbizu: Yes. Disturbing. They are playing right in the Aten’s plans.
Bakara: We have to do something.
Mbizu: Yes, but what? Those are some very powerful weapons
and we were trained to combat the Things that inhabit this Planet, not that kind of technology.
Bakara: Well, we cannot just let them enslave us like this. Could we flee?
Mbizu: The entire village?
We wouldn’t get far. They have that landing craft that can fly and walk.
Mbizu then stands up and cusps his hands behind his back and paces a bit facing away from Bakara and the table, when he suddenly stops, turns and reaches
both arms out towards Bakara…….
Mbizu: We need help. Help from our C.I.C. brothers.
Mbizu then lowers his arms as he sits down on the table top with his foot on a chair, looking Bakara
in the eye.
Mbizu: We need to get more C.I.C. members here to Memphis.
Bakara: But the next C.I.C. cell is so far away. It would take months to get there and back.
Mbizu:
But what else can we do? We cannot fight these aliens.
Bakara: Agreed, but I think it is worth the risk. I will go.
Mbizu: But if we are to do this, you must leave now, tonight. Go home,
grab some supplies and be on your way. Time is of the essence, my friend.
I will meet you at the western end of town to see you get out okay.
Bakara: I will see you just before dawn…...
A few moments later, Bakara is approaching his home as he walks with his wooden torch which is aflame with black smoke from the tar wick.
As he reaches the outside door, he places the torch in its holder on the right side of the doorway,
matching the one already in place and burning on the left side of the door.
As he enters and closes the door behind him, in the darkness of the far corner of the room he hears a voice……it is that of Josa, his wife.
Josa: Bakara? Where you go?
Josa then uncovers the oil lamp next to the bed she is laying on, illuminating the room with a soft orange glow. She sits up as Bakara replies.
Bakara: I talk
to friend. Friend scared.
Josa: We all scared. Many people die. Scared many more die.
Bakara: No, Josa. No more die. We must do what they say. They no kill if we do what
they say.
Josa: How you know? They not Solans. They not Orlando. Not Seth. They kill us.
Bakara: Orlando return soon. Orlando help.
Bakara then walks
toward the bed and sits down next to Josa. He looks her in the eye with a slight pause.
Bakara: Josa? Bakara must go away.
Josa: Go away? Go away where?
Bakara:
I go get more copper for work. We need more tools to farm. I take long time, many times Moon is full. Josa stay. Josa do what Aten’s say. This help Memphis villagers.
Josa: That long time……Josa
afraid.
Bakara: No worry. Bakara be okay. Josa be okay.
Bakara then goes about gathering some supplies, food and water as Josa helps him.
As he picks up the torch outside the
house, Bakara leans his face forward towards Josa and she reciprocates as they kiss good bye.
Bakara: Good bye, Josa. I back after many full Moons come and go.
In the pre-dawn hours of the next day, Bakara
and Mbizu are meeting the western edge of the Memphis village.
Bakara: I told just her to do what they said and that I was leaving to barter for some copper to make new tools for farming, thereby making this problem go by a little
easier.
Mbizu: Good……good. I’ll tow that line. Now you better get going.
Bakara: Take care my friend. Keep your head down and out of trouble. I’ll bring
back help as soon as I can.
Together, Mbizu and Bakara give each other the C.I.C. hand sign, as they both speak ‘C.I.C.!’
Bakara then grabs a hold of the long end of his shawl with his right hand, throws
it over his left shoulder, then turns to his left and runs off into the darkness.
After Bakara is out of sight, Mbizu turns around and heads back to his home for what is the rest of the day, dreading the impending return to the Planetary
Power Grid site in a few hours to begin a life of subjugation.
Unafraid of the heat of the campfire, Puma Vonku then leans
forward from his sitting position as he presses his arms and hands against the ground to support himself. He looks across the fire at Cesar……
Puma Vonku: Cesar……What is C.I.C.?
Suddenly, the rest of the young Puma Clan lift themselves up to an attentive position…….
Puma Tonku, Puma Gonku, Puma Vonita and Puma Brandita are staring intensely at Cesar, eagerly awaiting an answer to that most intriguing
question.
Puma Gonku: Yes Cesar, what is C.I.C.?
Puma Vonita: C....I….C….?
Cesar: Ohhhhh……the C.I.C., yes well let me tell you. You don’t
want to mess around with the C.I.C. They are a secret organization formed by Orlando and Vai De La Viega to combat the scourge that infests our Planet. Our people.
Puma Brandita: The Things in Southern hemisphere?
Cesar: Yes, those Things, yet have no fear, they have not crossed from their hemisphere into ours.
And while the C.I.C. possess advanced knowledge of science, mathematics, languages and extra ordinary fighting skills,
they are so secret, the general population down there has no idea who they are or where they are and probably never will.
From what I understand they are destroying the Things every day and doing their best to keep all their people safe
from the scourge.
Their mission continues to this day and will for many years to come.
In fact, some of the C.I.C. members are down there right now, at the Wanaku Complex, blending in and can be any number of the one-hundred
and thirty-eight worldwide leaders of civilized areas brought here, awaiting Marshall De La Viega’s speech.
Puma Vonita: What happen then? C.I.C. help Memphis village?
Cesar: Well, a few other
things happened before Bakara had an opportunity to come back to the Memphis village with help.
Puma Vonku: What?
Cesar: Patience, little one. Let’s just get back to the story for now, right
as the Memphis villagers are returning home because soon, things would get worse……
2
LOCATION: MEMPHIS VILLAGE
After the Sun has set and the Memphis villagers have returned to their home from the deadly and devastating attack at the hands of the Aten Clan, carrying their dead and injured, Mbizu
looks over his stunned family, friends and neighbors moving about in a daze.
Did this really happen?, he thought.
Over the course of the next seven days, the Memphis villagers took to burying their dead, tending to
their wounded and taking a count of the able bodied who can go on to the farming tasks that the Aten Clan has imposed on them.
Of the three-hundred and eleven Memphis villagers who were here before the Atens arrival, fifty-seven are dead,
another thirty have been injured to the point that death is just around the corner.
Another fifty villagers are injured and in need of medical attention, unable to work.
This leaves just one-hundred seventy-four villagers
and thirty-five of them are children or the old and infirmed. Mbizu realizes that there are now only one-hundred thirty-nine villagers to tend to the farming tasks.
After Mbizu had been overseeing the preparations for the next encounter
with the Aten Clan during the last seven days, he calls for a meeting before the Memphis villagers the morning of the eighth day, while also wondering where Bakara is with C.I.C. help.
The inhabitants of Memphis village have gathered in
the village square armed with all of their farming tools and implements. Mbizu addresses the villagers.
Mbizu: Listen to me……All of you……hear me. Let us do what they say. Let no one else
die. Orlando come back soon. We will farm and wait for Orlando. Wait for Seth. They will return and help us.
The crowd of gathered villagers begin to moan and grouse under their collective breaths about having to
be placed under the rule of the Aten Clan, but reluctantly agree and begin their trek back to the Planetary Power Grid foundation where the Aten Clan are just awakening to the new day on Planet 303417.3.
Curled up on the Cargo Bay floor,
Ar-Ran is still sleeping when he hears the loud echo of the Cargo Bay door being unlocked by Akun.
He looks up to see the hatch door wheel spinning and after it stops, the door swings open to the left and in steps Akun to the sound of
two metallic echoes as his feet touch the Cargo Bay floor, ’clank, clank!’
Akun stops at the doorway and scans the Cargo Bay spotting Ar-Ran, asleep under one of the windows.
Akun: Well there, looks
like you made it through the evening unscathed.
Ar-Ran: What you say? I hungry. I want eat.
Akun: I guess you’re feeling just fine.
Just then, Akufu and Ar enter the
Cargo Bay.
Akun: Well our little friend here is no worse for the wear this morning, ANNND he’s hungry.
Ar: Okay, let’s break out some rations and see how he handles that.
Sitting
in the Galley on board the Arachnid, the Aten brothers have a very small guest sitting on top of a box which is resting on the bench seat of the Galley table.
At the center of the table are three dishes native to the Aten Clans Home Planet
of Amun.
The first is raw, but charred Drak meat. A Drak is a small rodent similar to a bat, but more the size of a chicken to little Ar-Ran.
The next tray contains marinated Sequindos which are chewy, long green
vines harvested from the ocean floor of Amun.
And in the last tray are Poshes, similar in appearance to the flat unleavened bread that Ar-Ran is used to and with the same flavor, though they are cooked to be a little moist and doughy.
Ar takes a plate and using a two-pronged forklike implement, he places a sampling of the dishes onto a small plate and puts it in front of Ar-Ran.
Ar: Eat.
Ar, Akufu and Akun then serve themselves
and as they begin to eat, they discuss the plan for the day.
Akufu: Gentlemen, I was looking at the aerial surveys of this area and I think we should begin the farming site down by the river’s edge and just follow it down the
line as far as we can get out of the workforce.
Ar: Makes sense. The plots will have a constant, nearby water source. How much land do you think we can get out of them?
Akufu: That remains to
be seen. They should be arriving soon and we can then do a headcount and plan accordingly.
Ar: Great.
Ar then turns his attention to Ar-Ran who is eagerly eating everything that is on his plate. He
motions his head at Akufu to look over at Ar-Ran.
Akufu: Well, there Ar-Ran, it looks like you are enjoying that food, yes?
Ar-Ran: Good food. Ar-Ran eat good food.
Akun:
And he is still looking okay. I say we go out minus the excursion suits.
Akufu: At this point, I do not see any harm. If little Ar-Ran here can live in our world, we can certainly live in his.
Ar:
Agreed. What is the temp outside?
Akufu: Hot. Three-hundred eighty-five carrions and humid.
Realizing that the outside temperature, while tolerable to the Atens, will be hot and moist……
Ar: Ouch! Alright, we’ll use the Shens from the waist to the knee.
Musni’s on the shoulders to protect us from the direct sunlight and Falconies on our feet.
Akufu: I
think we should also use the Nemes to cover our non-round heads. Little Ar-Ran here is not so disturbed, but the general population may not be so forgiving.
Ar: Agreed. I will also keep the Plasma Power Glove on me while
you two keep the Ray Staffs with you at all times while outside of the Arachnid.
Suddenly the outside proximity alert sounds, notifying the Atens that someone or something is approaching the Arachnid. Ar then slides into his chair
to the left and activates the Galley monitor and changes the camera view to the Bridge camera.
It is the Littles from the village of Memphis approaching with an assortment of farming tools.
They finish their meal,
the four then make their way to the Cargo Bay where the Aten brothers change into the clothing they will be wearing for the duration of the mission while outside of the Arachnid.
This new attire will expose their bare arms, legs and faces
to the inhabitants of Planet Q, as
Akufu feels that this is something that will also add to their acceptance of the Aten Clans presence to the inhabitants.
Ar first puts on his Shen, a garment which is attached at the waist and
flows openly around his body like a skirt down to his knees with a small slit rising on the left and right sides, allowing for long, far reaching steps, or even running and jumping.
Below, on his feet are the two Falconies. Falconies
are footwear that is basically a foot shaped piece of synthetic rubber with a hole in the middle, just at the top end.
Protruding from this hole is a tube that branches out into two parts which recede outward and backwards.
The user places the tube in between the first two toes and scrunches the foot forward using the tubes design to keep the Falconies on the user’s feet while walking.
Next, Ar puts on his Musni, which is a garment that fits over
his head and rests on his shoulders protecting them from direct sunlight.
The Musni surrounds the base of his neck while the rest of the garment reaches downward in a circular pattern from shoulder to shoulder.
Ar
then takes a hold of his Nemes, a head covering designed to camouflage Aten Clans elongated heads from the local population.
He turns the Nemes upside down and leans his body forward head first and carefully cups it onto his head.
As he rises up and back into a standing position, Ar then pulls the Nemes backwards and down upon his head, ensuring a snug fit.
There is a tight band of elastic material that holds the Nemes to Ar’s forehead in
between his eyebrows and hairline, ensuring that his face is completely revealed at all times.
The Nemes also pulls backwards from the forehead to behind the ears.
There, the area of the Nemes surrounding Ar’s
head flattens out while extending outwards from the top of the head to just above the shoulders.
Almost as if framing his head in the headdress.
At the top middle of the Nemes is the flexible light stick. Bent
and curled up like a snake ready to strike is a flashlight device mounted to the head set.
Once all three Atens are dressed and weapons at the ready, they exit the Arachnid to the crowd of Littles.
As the Cargo
Bay doors of the Arachnid slowly open, standing in front of the Atens are the Memphis villagers holding an assortment of rudimentary farming tools.
There are pickaxes, shovels, rakes, all handheld implements, they possess no form of mechanical
tools.
Ar then addresses the group of gathered Littles.
Ar: Now you will follow us. We will take you down by the river. There you will begin preparing the land for planting crops.
Akufu turns to Ar and notes……
Akufu: Ar, did you notice something curious about this group?
Ar: No, what?
Akufu: There does not seem to look like a whole lot.
This can’t be all of them, can it? They are only males of working age. There are no children, there are no women and there are no older inhabitants.
Ar: Yes, I see. Akun! Take the Kotsoos to the Memphis
village and round up the rest of these inhabitants and get them back here. And do whatever it takes!
Akun: Understood.
Ar: Akufu, you and I will take these inhabitants and begin marking out the plots
alongside the river bank.
Akufu: What about your little Ward here?
Ar: He stays put in the Cargo Bay for now. When we get back, I will assign him quarters.
Akun: Quarters?
Heck, we don’t even have quarters……not on the Arachnid anyway.
Ar: We need to keep him sequestered for now. Teaching him our ways. Our language. And when he is ready, he will take his place by
my side as I rule over his people.
Akun then grabs his Ray Staff and touches a few buttons on the Kotsoos remote as the Kotsoos goes from a sitting position to a standing on all four legs and ready to be mounted.
Akun
grabs ahold of the top of the saddle and puts his left foot into the stirrup as he pulls himself up onto the top of the Kotsoos.
Once he is seated, Akun grabs the reins and pulls them back as the Kotsoos lets out a slight purr.
Akun: Hah, Fatsu!
Akun digs his heels into the side of the Kotsoos, which the Aten clan have officially named Fatsu.
Akun then rides Fatsu towards Memphis village with the Kotsoos sprinting away with his tail
high in the air, whipping all about.
Ar: Indeed. Close the Cargo Bay doors let's get going.
As the Cargo Bay doors of the Arachnid close, Ar and Akufu go about teaching the Littles of Memphis village how
to stand in a 2x2 line and begin marching them away from the alien landing craft and towards the river
Walking approximately 50 feet behind the trail of Littles is the Kotsoos and 50 feet behind the Kotsoos are Ar and Akufu. As they
walk, they talk.
Akufu: I have to tell you that I do not think that these tools that inhabitants possess will be sufficient for the job at hand.
Ar: Maybe, but for now let's get them down there and start
them working. When Akun returns, we may have a bigger labor force and let’s see what we can make them do.
After a quick ride, Akun slowly approaches the
village on top of the Kotsoos at a leisurely pace, and he reaches the edge of the Village proper, he sees all the other Littles which have not reported as part of the initial workforce.
Akun then dismounts Fatsu and they begin a slow walk
towards the village.
It appears to be a bustling village. Children are running about, women are taking care of domestic duties and the elderly are basking in the limelight of their life, constantly retelling stories of times long
past,
Suddenly, a compacted ball of Palm leaves comes rolling towards Akun and the Kotsoos and rolls up to Akuns foot.
A Little child, who has been running with her head down chasing the ball of Palm leaves suddenly
looks up to see Akun and the Kotsoos.
She screams in horror and begins to run away trying to warn the villagers at the top of her lungs.
Her screams bring the attention of the rest of the Littles in the village as
they all look up to see Akun and the Kotsoos approaching.
The Memphis villagers then begin running for cover, mother's grabbing their children, while the older Littles are struggling to get inside to escape the wrath of the Kotsoos.
As Akun sees this he slowly walks the Kotsoos into the center of the village and addresses the villagers.
Akun: Well then what we have here? What are all you still doing here you should be out farming.
Josa: But we women, children, old people we work here, we no farm. We cook food so when men come back men can eat.
Akun: No, no, no, no, no you all work.
You will cook when you come
back.
You will eat when you come back.
You can take your food with you to the farming site to eat during the day.
The stunned Littles cannot believe what they are hearing and just stare at Akun
with dumbfounded looks.
Seeing this, Akun realizes that immediate action is necessary to maintain the reign of terror against the Littles as he shouts.
Akun: WELL, GET MOVING! ALL OF YOU…...NOW!
Seeing that the Littles are not moving, Akun points his Ray Staff at one of the women.
Akun: I SAID NOW!
Akun then fires the Ray Staff at one of the women closest to him.
The
almond shaped tip of the Ray Staff begins to light up with a swirl of sparks and as Akun fires it, a high voltage electrical charge encased in a plasma beam shoots forward.
As it hits the woman, her body is surrounded in the electrical
plasma energy as she begins convulsing and falls to the ground.
Akun then fires three more blasts at other Littles leaving them writhing in pain on the ground.
Akun then touches a few buttons on his Kostoos control
pad and Fatsu lets out a loud roar and quickly pounces on the first woman and begins to devour her alive, as she screams in pain with blood spewing about.
Seeing all of this, the remaining Littles then begin scurrying about, gathering
their things and in in just a few short minutes they all return in front of Akun, ready to go.
Akun: Well now……that’s better. All of you, get moving.
Akun points his Ray Staff in the
direction of the Memphis. The Littles then begin their trek, walking back to Site 5, kicking up dust as they shuffle along in a large group with Ar riding the Kotsoos behind them.
Hours later, Akun and the rest of the Littles reach
the group marching in the sand to the designated farmlands and the farming begins with Mbziu wondering where Bakara is with C.I.C. help……
The enslaved Littles of the Memphis village continued to drudge on, day after day, week after week, month after month, walking from their homes five miles to the farmlands, carrying all of their tools, food and water with them.
Men.
Women. Children. The Old. The Sick. None were spared.
Once there, they would toil in the fields until the Sun set. Then then would trek back, in the dark, five miles to their village to rest and cook meals
for the next day.
Those who fell on the march to or from the farmlands or at the farmlands were moved to the side of the road and left to rot, only to be picked up later by the Littles of the Memphis village after the Aten Clan’s
orders for the day were done.
This has become their life. Living only to serve their Alien masters, feeding themselves and caring for their dead.
After five months of toiling in the fields with constantly breaking
inferior tools, Akufu realizes that they may miss the first window for planting crops because of the old, outdated farming tools that the Littles are using.
Late one evening while Ar-Ran was serving dinner to Ar, Akufu and Akun in the
galley of the Arachnid, the Aten Clan are discussing the situation……
The table in the galley of the Arachnid is made of a silvery metal composite, not particularly attractive, but useful nonetheless.
It
is a simple square table with Ar, Akufu and Akun sitting at each of three of the sides, sipping on Bargla wine which they traded for a Ray Staff to a Planetary Dictator who purchased a Kotsoos from them at the auction.
Ar-Ran then emerges
from the kitchen carefully carrying in front of him a plate of steaming hot Bobulas.
Bobulas are small round creatures the size of a golf ball with six legs on either side of its fat round and squishy body. Still alive, the Bobulas
are dancing around the plate in short hops.
Ar-Ran places the Bobulas in the center of the table, then retreats to the kitchen for the second course.
The tall, thin, tan-skinned Atens with their elongated heads and
almond eyes then reach in with their long slender fingers and pick up the Bobulas, one at a time, using their long fingernails to secure them as they squirm.
Ar moves his head backwards so that his mouth is facing upwards and open.
He then takes the Bobulas in his right hand and raises it up high above his head.
After a second or so, Ar releases the wiggling Bobulas which drops directly into his mouth and consumes it in a quick few chews.
Akufu and Akun do the same, and after he has consumed a few more of the appetizers, Akufu places his elbows on the table and addresses Ar.
Akufu: Ar, we are moving much too slow to meet our harvest deadline.
Ar: Oh? How so?
Akufu: Well, we have been here for five months and there are constant delays because of old, broken tools.
Ar: Then make them make more tools.
Akufu: It’s not that simple. They do not possess the capacity to make enough tools to support our project.
I was thinking……what if we take a look at that Solan Planet Lander Starship complex and the Memphis
Landing Site. Maybe there is some tool making equipment at that site.
Ar: Possible. After all, these inhabitants were here when the Solans were here. Good idea. Let’s head out tomorrow morning.
As Ar says that, Ar-Ran approaches the table with the second course, the Kupla.
The Kupla is a dark, leafy green plant that is grown under the sea and simmered for five hours to make it fork tender.
After placing
the Kupla on the table, Ar-Ran looks over to Ar with his young, hopeful eyes……
Ar-Ran: Can I go too?
Ar then stands up and looks down at little Ar-Ran.
Ar: NO! You
will stay here in the Arachnid and continue to learn the Aten way of life. It will make you a better leader in the years to come, my Ward.
Ar-Ran then bows his head down……
Ar-Ran: As you command,
my Liege.
Ar-Ran then turns around and heads back to the kitchen for the third course, the meaty Chunkowten!
The next morning as
the Aten Clan is herding the Littles of Memphis village to the farmlands and just as they are in sight of the Memphis Complex…….
Ar: Okay, Akufu, let’s head over there and see if we can find or fabricate some
better tools.
Akun: And what about me?
Ar: You continue on and make sure they are not lollygagging around. We’ll be back in just a bit.
Overhearing the conversation, Mbziu
takes the opportunity to get some spying in on the invaders.
Mbizu: You go Memphis? Mbizu know Memphis. Mbizu take you to Memphis…...show you Memphis.
Ar, Akufu and Akun look at each other,
surprised that one of the inhabitants would want to go along with them to the Memphis.
Akufu: Well then, you know the Memphis, do you? What do you know about the Memphis?
Mbizu: Yes, yes......I know
Memphis……. build power grid.
Ar: And what is a power grid?
Mbizu then turns and points to the Memphis.
Mbizu: Power grid there, power grid we build, Mbizu show.
Come, come.
Mbizu begins walking towards the power grid turning back and waving his arms to Ar and Akufu.
Mbizu: Come, come!
Ar: Akufu you and I will go check this out. Akun,
you keep taking this group down to the farming area.
With Mbizu leading the way, the three then walk up a long hill and at the summit they can see the Memphis.
To the left is a large asphalt foundation with large stone
slabs compiled together in a square formation, almost reaching the edges of the foundation, and as they stop their trek……
Ar: Well alright! Looks like the Solans had something serious going on here. Look
at this place. It looks like an entire village surrounding that large rectangular stone slab compilation in the center. Now why would the Solans do this and call it a power grid?
Encircling the edges of the asphalt foundation
are an assortment of buildings and work areas.
Ar then turns around and looks at Mbizu.
Ar: Mbizu, this is the power grid?
Mbizu then runs forward and approaches the stone slabs, touching
them.
Mbizu: See power grid? This power grid, Mbizu help power grid.
Akufu: Well our little friend here clearly does not know what a power grid is, but he knows where it is. Let’s start
by checking out every building and work area, one by one as we walk the perimeter.
As Ar, Akufu and Mbizu approach the first set of structures to their right, they come across what looks like a multitude of small housing structures.
Each building is marked with a numbering sequence. Mbizu then shouts out……
Mbizu: Sleep, sleep. We sleep! See? Sleep!
Mbizu then claps his hands together
and rests them on the side of his face, as he tilts his head to the right into his hand and closes his eyes.
Mbizu: Sleep…...see?
Akufu: This must be their sleeping quarters.
Ar: Ya think?
The three continue their walk and come across the next building. This one is very long with plenty of windows that are unfortunately covered with dirt and vegetation.
Akufu then sees an
area of a window reflecting sunlight, shining through a clearing in the overgrowth. He stops and holds his arms down by his side.
Akufu: Hold here. Let’s take look. I see something.
Mbizu:
Eat! Eat! Mbizu eat here.
Mbizu then cups his left hand and brings it up to just below his chin and with his right hand he pretends to scoop up what would be in his left hand, then brings his right hand up to his open mouth
and pours, acting like he just ate something delicious.
Mbizu: Eat, mmmmm, eat….See? Eat!
As Akufu and Ar approach the window, they scrape off the overgrown vegetation and dirt to reveal what appears
to be a commercial dining hall. A large open room with three sets of long tables laid out in rows of six across and thirty long.
Ar: This does look like a dining area.
Akufu: So, it would appear to
be.
Stepping back from the building, Akufu looks further down the row of the complex and sees that the building gets larger at the far end.
Akufu: And that must be the kitchen.
Ar:
That would make sense. Let’s move on.
The three then continue their walk until they come across the next building which takes them by surprise.
It is a connected building to what appears to be a corral
for livestock.
The building, if you can call it that, is an overhang structure, like a barn with no walls.
An angled roof? Yes. Walls? No. Instead, the roof is supported by wooden poles at each
of the four corners as well as other support poles around the circumference for adequate stability.
Inside the protection of the roof are an assortment of crude hand operated animal butchering machines and tools, long since rusted over
from neglect.
Mbizu: Kill animal here.
Mbizu then turns to his left and points to the corral.
Mbizu: Animal keep there. Bring animal here. Kill animal here.
Mbizu then turns back to the kitchen and dining building and points his right hand.
Mbizu: Eat animal there.
Ar: Well then, let’s move on.
As they reach the corral, which is
situated at the end of this side of the complex, they now have to turn left to continue their walk around the site.
Next up on their right is an open dirt area, which at first shows no signs of purpose.
Ar: Mbizu?
Do you know what this area is?
Mbizu: This grow plants. Plants Mbizu eat. Plants we all eat. Plants good.
Akufu: A garden?
Ar: Ah……yes, a garden.
Mbizu then looks up at Ar and Akufu, smiles.
Mbizu: Yes, garden good.
Still looking up at the two invaders, Mbizu thinks to himself……
“What a couple of saps!”
Ar: Well then, let’s see what’s up next.
As Ar, Akufu and Mbizu continue to walk the perimeter of the Memphis Complex, they come across an open area of
the foundation with no traces of previous activity.
Akufu: Well this seems like a lot of open and wasted space. Further down the line there you can clearly see more activity, but why this open space?
Ar:
Mbizu? What happens here? What do you do here? What do your people do here?
Mbizu: Rope! Make rope here. No rope now.
Ar: Moving on……
Next
up is a clearly crude, smelting pot and metal forging area, and again rusted out with lots of overgrowth.
Turning the corner of the Memphis Complex, again to the left, is the massive stone cutting area, used to shape the massive stones
into manageable sizes, as evidenced by the leftover partially cut stones lying about.
Last up is a white structure made of white painted corrugated metal, looking like a big box. No windows, no doors, just four walls and a roof,
reaching up four times as tall as Ar and Akufu.
Ar then turns to his left rear and looks at Mbizu.
Ar: Mbizu, what is this?
Mbizu then approaches Ar and Akufu and gestures them to follow
his lead……
Standing in front of Ar and Akufu, Mbizu unties the rope holding his trousers up, then pulls them down and squats and looks up at the two Atens……
Mbizu: Sit here.
See? Sit here. Make……Sit here, make. See?
Akufu: A toilet?
Ar: It would appear so.
Taking another look at the building, Akufu wonders……
Akufu: If this is indeed a lavatory, why are there no windows or otherwise open-air areas?
Ar: Good point. Let’s have a look inside.
Ar motions for Akufu to back away, as well
as motioning for Mbizu to backup.
Ar: Well let’s give this a little jolt from the Plasma Power Glove.
Ar lifts up his right hand and pulls the Plasma Power Glove control on his forearm towards his face
and touches a few buttons to direct a pinpoint plasma stream from the index finger and points.
A thin plasma stream then shoots out making contact at the top of the structure causing a stream of bright white sparks and a crackling, searing
noise as the metal of the wall melts.
Ar continues to direct the plasma stream down the wall until it has reached the ground.
He repeats the process until he has cut away section large enough for them to walk through.
As the large vertically rectangular section falls inward, there is a loud thud of metal hitting the ground and a cloud of dust pushes out from the inside structure, like a volcano spewing ash.
Once the dust has settled,
Ar and Akufu approach the opening, and are astonished at what they see.
It is a Solan Mobile Video Display Unit.
Seeing that his ruse about the toilet did not work, Mbizu, using his C.I.C. skills silently slips away
knowing that the Atens would take lethal revenge on him.
While they enter the structure, Mbizu dashes out into the surrounding forest, taking this opportunity to leave the Memphis village and find Bakara…...and help.
Not knowing of Mbizu’s departure, Ar and Akun approach the Mobile Video Display Unit.
It consists of a large chair connected to a rail that extends forward, then upwards to support a desk, complete with a multitude of control
switches, buttons, levers and a keyboard.
On top of the desk is one very large video display.
Extending upwards from the back of the chair is a metal pole. At the top of the pole is a solar panel array.
After walking around the Mobile Video Display Unit, Ar and Akufu realize that in order to operate this device, it needs access to sunlight.
Ar: We have to get this thing out into the open for the solar panels to work.
Akufu: Agreed. Should we continue to cut away at the walls and them remove them?
Ar: No, wait, I have a better idea. Let’s step outside.
As the two leave the structure, they instantly
notice that Mbizu is nowhere to be seen.
Ar: Now where did that little bugger go? He lied to us.
Akufu: No doubt that he knew that we knew, that we knew that he knew, that we knew.
Ar: What?
Akufu: Suffice to say, he is gone. But what is your plan?
Ar: Stand back.
Ar then pulls his right arm up close to his face and changes a few settings on the
Plasma Power Glove. He then holds his right arm up and outwards with his open hand facing the building.
The Plasma Power Glove is crackling and buzzing with a blueish-white plasma stream connecting all of the fingers and thumb in
a swirling motion.
Suddenly, from all five extremities of the Plasma Power Glove appears a slowly floating mass of plasma energy resembling a rotating spider’s web.
The slow-spinning plasma web slowly flows out
from the Plasma Power Glove towards the structure as it becomes larger and larger.
As it approaches the top structure at full size, the slow-spinning stops and the web forms an umbrella shape which begins floating down over the structure.
As it makes contact and engulfs it, the structure begins to light up, brighter and brighter in a pulsing motion, pulsing, pulsing and pulsing.
And as the light of the pulsing plasma slowly dims, while still pulsing, so
does the roof and walls of the structure until nothing is left but the burned-out cinders of the foundation.
Approaching the Mobile Video Display Unit, Ar motions to Akufu……
Ar: Clean the dust off
of those solar panels while I try and find something to get us up on this chair. Man, these Solons are big. Wait now, help me.
Akufu then cups his hands and locks his fingers together and holds them in front of his body allowing
for Ar to use them as a step to reach the chair of the Solan Mobile Video Display Unit.
Once there, Ar reaches back down and grabs a hold of Akufu’s arm and pulls him up to the chair.
Once they are both securely
on the chair, Akufu climbs the pole to clean off the solar panels while Ar is overwhelmed by the multitude of instruments in front of him.
Ar: Uhhhh, Akufu? Gonna need you here.
Akufu, just finishing off
his last wipe of the solar panels looks down at Ar……
Akufu: Coming down now.
Akufu releases his grip on the top of the pole, just slightly, so he can slide down in a controlled fashion…...like
a crime fighter ready for action.
Ar and Akufu are standing on the seat of the chair as the desktop of the Mobile Video Display Unit rises to just their mid-body level.
Directly in front of them is a large keyboard
with Solan letters, numbers and symbols. Each key on the keyboard is a large as palm of Aten’s hands.
Ar: I don’t see a Turn On switch, you?
Akufu: Let me see.
Akufu
scans the keyboard with its over two hundred characters and does not see anything familiar but letters numbers and symbols.
Akufu: Nooooo……but wait.
Ar: What?
Akufu then
points to a button off to the side of the keyboard, sitting all by itself.
The symbol on top of the button is an incomplete circle with a straight line going down the middle of the open space at the top.
He backs up
from the desktop and scoots his way left and behind Ar to reach the button.
Akufu: Now, if I remember correctly this is an On and Off button.
As Akufu points his finger closer, in an up and down motion,
Ar moves in for a better look.
Akufu: The straight line represents Power On and the incomplete circle represents Power Off. One press should turn it on, while a second press would turn it off.
Ar:
Let’s give it a go.
Akufu proceeds to press his left hand, face-down on the top of the surface of the On/Off button, which again is as large as his open palm.
Down he presses and holds for just a bit as he feels
a slight click.
He then lifts his hand off of the button and just as he does that, the sound of a motorized fan starting up can be heard while the monitor lights up to a cascade of beeps, whizzes and screen flashes as the Mobile Video
Display Unit comes to life.
Within a few seconds, Ar and Akufu are looking at a program that automatically resumed where it left off when the system was last shut down.
Displayed on the monitor is a map of Planet
Q showing the locations of all five Sites of the Planetary Power Grid by Site Number and Planet Lander Starship Designation.
At the top of the screen is displayed:
PLANETARY POWER GRID
Akufu: Ah, hah! This is it. The Planetary Power Grid. Now how does that slab of stones out there contribute to a power grid?......move over now and let me get in front of the keyboard.
As Ar moves to his right, shuffling along the chair, Akufu follows him.
Reaching a point beyond the keyboard, Ar settles his hands and arms down on the surface of the desktop when Akufu notices something on the monitor.
Akufu: Ar, what did you just do? Do you see that arrow in the upper right of the monitor?
Ar looks up and scans the monitor. He spots the arrow and points his right finger.
Ar: Yes, there
it is.
Akufu: I think that when you moved your hands and arms over the desktop, it somehow activated the arrow. Move your hand over the desktop surface again.
Ar then places his right hand, palm down on
the surface of the desktop and moves it to the left, keeping in contact with the desktop.
Akufu’s eyes light up and he points to the monitor.
Akufu: There, it moved. This is must be what the Solans
call a mouse pad. That area of the desktop that you are on, controls the arrow.
Now, if you move the arrow on top of one of the Site icons, I believe we can access further information about it.
Ar then touches
the desktop again and moves the arrow to Site 5, Memphis Landing Site icon on the display……
Ar: Okay it looks like we are here and they have four other sites around the Planet.
Akufu: Interesting…...
In scanning the map on display of Planet Q and the Planetary Power Grid with its various Sites, they see icons for……
Site 2, the Xian Landing Site, located at the far- right side of the Planetary map, while
Site 3, the Wakkan Landing Site is on the far left.
Site 4, the Indus Landing Site is located nearer the center of the Planetary map, and to the left of Site 2.
The Site 5, Memphis Landing Site is located near the
center of the Planetary map just above the equator while to the right of Site 3 and lastly, Site 6, the Uralite Landing Site is also located in the center of the Planet, but well to the North of Sites 5.
Ar: Interesting what?
Akufu: There is no Site 1 location or any other Planet Lander Starship designations.
Ar: You’re right. I don’t see a Site 1.
Akufu: Nothing posted on the monitor.
Ar: Let’s see if we can find some schematics for this Site and see what exactly they were doing in regards to a Planetary Power Grid.
Akufu: Hold on just a minute let me try something……There
is an icon on the left here that says Simulation. Let’s try that one first.
Ar moves his hand across the desktop to place the arrow on top of the Simulation icon.
Ar: Now what.
Akufu:
Now, you tap down on the surface twice in a row.
Ar: Tap on the surface?
Akufu: Yes, tap twice…...in a row..….tap-tap.
Ar: Do I have to do a dance as well?
Akufu: Just tap the damn desktop……it’s not my tech, blame the Solans.
As Ar taps down twice on the desktop where the arrow is set at the Simulation icon, the Site 2 Xian Landing Site icon suddenly lights up.
After a few seconds the line connecting Site 2 to Site 4 lights up as it moves left across the Planetary display map and closer to the center of the Planet, lighting up the Site 4, Indus Landing Site icon.
A second line
moves to the right of Site 2 and off of the Planetary display map only to appear at the edge of the left side of the map then moves to the right and connects to Site 3, the Wakkan Landing Site.
The line from Site 3 moves to right and connects
to Site 5, the Memphis Landing Site, then North towards the Pole and connects to Site 6, the Uralite Landing Site.
And lastly a line from Site 6, the Indus Landing Site moves the left and North as it makes contact with Site 6, the Uralite
Landing Site.
Now that all Sites around the Planet are connected to each other creating the Planetary Power Grid, Site 6 suddenly becomes brighter than all other Sites.
An illuminated line then begins extending away
from Site 6, up and North on the Planetary map, when the Simulation video suddenly stops and morphs into a life-like 3-D animation format, and from a ground-based observation point.
The monitor shows the horizon to be relatively flat,
with the Site 6 Uralite Planetary Power Grid structure in the far-left corner of the display.
Sitting atop the structure is the TESLA. It is an acronym for:
Tight
Electrical
Stream,
in a
LAAMB
Array
The TESLA is a device that will compile and condense all of the electrical energies that have been generated by the Planetary Power Grid and sent to Site 6 and stream the electricity inside a tubular LAAMB array, protecting the electrical energy from seeking
the nearest ground source and dissipating.
Once that has been accomplished, the TESLA will send its LAAMB array protected electrical energy up toward the ionosphere.
And at the far-right corner of the display is an
icon indicating, ’North Pole’.
3D animation on the monitor of the Mobile Video Display Unit then shows a line of energy moving up and to the right from the ground at Site 6 into the atmosphere to a point that is labeled as
the “Ionosphere” on the map.
Then, the line of energy moves downwards back towards the Planet heading for the far-right edge of the display. As it makes contact, the area designated as ‘North Pole’ lights
up!
The Simulation video then changes perspective again and is now looking at Planet Q from an orbital distance whereby it fills only half the screen.
As the North Pole is glowing bright from the influx of electrical
energy brought by the TESLA……
All of the glowing lines of the Planetary Power Grid on the monitor then slowly begin to pulse with ever diming luminescence, as if shutting down.
Suddenly all of the illuminated
lines displayed on the monitor turn off and it appears that the simulation is over. Ar turns to his left and looks at Akun……
Ar: Now why would the Solons build these power plants, connect them all together, shoot
the stream up into the ionosphere and then down to the pole. What’s purpose would that serve?
Still staring at the monitor with focused concentration, Akufu replies……
Akufu: I have no
idea. It seems like a lot of work for nothing.
Ar: There must be a reason or they would not have done this.
Akufu: Well they did abandon it, didn’t they? A failed project maybe?
Wait now……
The Mobile Video Display Unit then loads Part 2 of the Simulation program……
Mobile Video Display Unit: Planetary Power Grid, Part 2, Distributing the Power…...Playing
now……
Ar and Akufu watch as the monitor recaps the last sequence of events from the first program where the power was sent from Site 6, Uralite Landing Site up into the Ionosphere and back down to the surface of Planet Q,
specifically at the Northern Pole lighting it up.
Next, the electrical energy begins to flow South and away from the North Pole, yet it is under the surface of Planet Q, following along the naturally occurring Telluric Lines.
The simulation then follows the electrical energy travelling South and as it does, the Telluric Lines spread out across Planet Q like an arterial system, branching out to the left.…...to the right……
Whether it be
land or sea, the energy streams continue Southward to various points, expanding out to cover vast areas of Planet Q’s Northern Hemisphere, including all five Sites of the Planetary Power Grid and beyond until all of the Northern Hemisphere has been encompassed.
Yet, once reaching the equator of the Planet, the energy streams slowly dissipate and do not protrude much into the Southern hemisphere.
Akufu: Ar, move the arrow over one of those glowing lines.
As Ar reaches his left hand out on top of the desktop, he maneuvers the arrow to the closest glowing line.
As the arrow reaches the glowing line, a rectangular icon pops up just above the arrow and it says, “TELLURIC
LINES”.
Ar: Whoa! What’s that? What kind of lines?
Akufu: Hmmmm…...I am not sure what the first word is either. Move the arrow to that icon and let’s see if it
can provide us with any other information.
Ar then slowly moves the arrow to the rectangular icon that shows, “TELLURIC LINES”, then double-taps the desktop.
Suddenly another window opens up and describes
the Telluric Lines and it reads……
TELLURIC LINES ARE STREAMS OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY WHICH FLOW OUTWARDS
UNDER THE
GROUND FROM BOTH MAGNETIC POLES OF A PLANET
THEY CONTAIN A CURRENT WHICH IS THE LEFTOVER ELECTRICAL
ENERGY CREATED BY A PLANET’S MAGNETIC FIELD
WHILE THE TELLURIC LINES ENCOMPASS THE ENTIRE PLANET, THEY ARE AT SUCH
A LOW VOLTAGE THAT THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH ENERGY FOR ANY
PRACTICAL USE, YET IN THEORY……
BY ADDING A CONCENTRATED AMOUNT OF ELECTRICAL
ENERGY AT
THE TELLURIC LINE SOURCE, THE LINES COULD POTENTIALLY PROVIDE WHAT IS
ESSENTIALLY THE UNDERGROUND TRANSMISSION OF USEFULL ELECTRICAL ENERGY
UNDERNEATH A PLANET’S SURFACE
Ar: So, that’s
their plan. To create a Planet wide electrical grid.
Akufu: Hence, the Planetary Power Grid.
Ar: But to what end? And again, how can that slab out there contribute?
Akufu:
I am not sure, but maybe we can find out more about this particular Site by moving the arrow to the Site 5 Memphis Landing Site icon.
Ar: Agreed.
Ar then moves the arrow toward the center of the map on the video
display until it reaches the Site 5 Memphis Landing Site icon where he double taps the desktop.
As the new window opens up, Ar and Akufu are astonished by what they see. The completed Site 5 Planetary Power Grid structure and it
is nothing like the stone slab near them.
The label at the top of the monitor shows……
PLANETARY POWER GENERATION
AND POWER TRANSFER STATION
SITE 5, MEMPHIS LANDING SITE
Below the heading and in the center of the screen is a four-sided pyramid with animation
showing a beam of energy appearing from one horizon and making contact with the pyramid.
The visible holes near the top of the pyramid then suddenly glow with a bright blue-ish white light which then sends a beam of white light out the
opposite end of the incoming energy and off into the distance.
The short video repeats over and over.
Akufu: Ar, move the arrow to that “X” in the upper right-hand corner of the window.
As Ar closes the simulation window, he turns to Akufu.
Ar: So, that slab of stones out there must be the first layer of this pyramid which will eventually be used as a power plant and relay station.
Puma Vonita: TESLA? Tell us more!
Cesar then sits back and raises his crossed arms behind his head to get in a quick stretch from his sitting
position, then moves forward and repositions himself with his clasped hands under his chin with his elbows resting on his knees as he addresses the Puma Clan children to continue the story.
Cesar: We will get back to the TESLA in
a bit, but it was just about this same time that Puma Punku decided to quest for the “Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light”. I’m sure you have all been waiting for this part of the story, yes?
Puma Brandita:
Yes, yes, yes……Please tell of Puma Punku’s quest.
Cesar: Well it began not far from here, as you know……
3
LOCATION: THE PUMA CLAN VILLAGE FAR FROM THE WANAKU LANDING SITE
Sitting around a fire at the center of the village, long after the adults have gone to sleep, a
group of young stone masons, the pride of the Puma Clan who are renowned for their stone artistry, are sharing stories of their most difficult stone cuts over the years.
They are wearing thick wooly boots which extend half way up their
legs and body coverings from the same material, flowing down from their waists to their knees.
Their torsos are covered in a shawl style cloth encompassing their shoulders, half way down their arms and torso.
All made
from the same material. A wooly like fiber, sheared from the Pack and Food source animals that are abundant in the area. The fiber is then sewn together to make clothing.
Puma Tonku: My tool get dull. Get dull.
Stone not cut like other stones. I stop. My tool cannot.
As he says that Puma Tonku points his right index finger straight up, then down in a drooping motion.
Puma Tonku: My tool, no more.
The group of young stone masons then shrug their shoulders and sigh as they remember some of their hardest stones, when just then Puma Punku, the youngest of the stone masons speaks……
Puma Punku: Puma Punku know
giants, giants cut stone with light. You hear story?
Puma Moku: Yes, yes, yes……you tell story many times, story old. Where stones? No stones for story.
Puma Punku: Stones
far away, far away. Puma Punku find stones. I find stones.
Puma Linita: How you know stones?
Puma Punku: Grandmother tell Puma Punku story long ago. She see giants cut stone with light.
She tell Puma Punku story.
Puma Honku: Grandmother old woman. Not right. No listen to Grandmother.
Puma Punku: Puma Punku Grandmother, Puma Juanita IS right. Puma Punku find giants and
cut stones……Puma Punku show stones.
Puma Punku, the smallest and youngest of the group at seventeen years old, then stands and looks over the five other stone masons sitting in front of the fire at the center of their village……
Puma Punku: Puma Punku find stones and cut with light, stones then best cut stones. Best cut stones of all Puma Clan. Puma Punku show.
The rest of the Puma Clan’s young masons erupt in laughter,
as they cannot believe that Puma Punku would hold on to that dream of his, of finding a way to cut stone with light……
Puma Honku: Yes, like when you quest long ago? You only fall asleep in your bed, same night!
The young stone masons then again erupt in laughter, tossing insults to Puma Punku about what happened to him nine years ago.
As the young stone masons laugh and heckle Puma Punku, he remembers back again to when he was
eight years old…….
Eager to find the Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light that his Grandmother, Puma Juanita has just told him about
earlier that day, eight-year old Puma Punku has decided to quest later that evening after the dinner meal.
As Puma Punku and his family all retire to their respective rooms for the evening, Puma Punku is in his room gathering a few fruits
and amales and has wrapped them in a towel.
Amales are various protein or vegetable foodstuffs, packed inside a ground corn meal outer layer and wrapped in leaves to keep it as fresh as possible for storage or a long-distance travel.
One he has put as much food as the towel can carry, young Puma Punku then grabs each point of the four corners of the towel, bringing them to a single point and tying a knot at the top to hold the contents in place.
He
places the towel and all its goods on the table, while he looks around his room in his mud-brick house.
Turning to his left, Puma Punku sees his house broom. A long, crooked tree branch and attached to the end is a compilation of
twigs, bound together tightly enough to provide for the stable sweeping of debris.
Puma Punku then reaches for the broom with his right hand. He picks it up and places the lower sweeping section to the ground.
He
then takes his left foot and stomps down on the base of the broom, breaking off the bottom, leaving only the long, crooked stick.
Taking the stick back to the table, Puma Punku then slides one end of the stick through the opening in the
tied-up towel carrying the foodstuffs. After a few adjustments the towel is securely tied to the stick.
Puma Punku then hoists the stick over his right shoulder so that the towel, loaded with his provisions, is behind him as he is
holding on to the opposite end in his right hand using leverage to lighten the load on his body.
He looks around one last time at his room. He then turns left towards the door leading to the outside of the house. Puma Punku
opens the door and steps outside.
As the door closes behind him, Puma Punku is slowly walking away into the darkness of the night, determined to find the Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light……
Within
less than two hours of walking, the young eight-year-old Puma Punku decides that it is time for a rest.
Puma Punku: Yes, I think I’ll just rest here a bit…….then continue on.
Puma Punku finds
a soft spot of plant growth near the path and lays himself down on his back to take in a little rest.
As he rests, he soon falls asleep……
As Puma Punku sleeps, he dreams of finding the Place Where Giants
Cut Stone With Light…...
He finds himself floating over the place where the giants cut stone with light, watching
their every move.
There are two giants. One is holding a long tube where the light
is
shooting out to the stone, cutting it in half.
Puma Punku then finds himself standing on the ground with a giant standing commanding in front of him.
Puma Punku arches his head backwards and looks up at the
giant and asks…….
Puma Punku: Giant, what you doing?
Giant: I am cutting stone with light.
Puma Punku: How you do that?
Giant: Well, little
one……
Suddenly, Puma Punku is awakened by his mother, Puma Dolita and his father, Puma Moku, directly above him staring him in the face……
Puma Dolita: Puma Punku, we worry. Why
you out so far?
Puma Punku, shaking off his dream and coming to an awakened, yet dazed state…..
Puma Punku: Puma Punku see The Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light, Puma Punku see giants cut stone with
light.
Puma Moku: Yes my son, we talk tomorrow. Now we go home. Now we go sleep.
Puma Moku takes his son, Puma Punku in his arms as he and Puma Dolita, his mother, walk back to their home and lay
him on his bed and tuck him in for a good night’s sleep.
Puma Punku then quickly falls back to sleep, ever dreaming…...
As seventeen-year-old
Puma Punku’s mind comes back to the present, he then storms out, away from the group at the campfire, determined to find what his Grandmother Puma Juanita calls, the Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light.
Puma Punku then goes back
to his home and reaches for the Quilt that his Grandmother, Puma Juanita gave him nine years earlier, out of his cabinet.
He lays it down on his kitchen table and recalls as his Grandmother Puma Juanita explained, in detail, how each of
the twenty-four different patchworks on the Quilt, which measured four patchworks wide by six patchworks long, would provide him a map to the Place Where Giants Cut Stone With Light and remembers……
As Puma Juanita and Puma Punku are looking at the Quilt, which has been
laid out on a large wooden dining table, Puma Juanita then points to the
patchwork of the Quilt that is closest to Puma Punku in the lower right hand
corner.
The patchwork on the Quilt shows a forest mountain.
Puma Juanita: Puma Punku, this first place, you see every day.
Puma Juanita then turns and raises her right hand and points Westward into the air.
Puma Juanita: There, you see? Land not flat. Land go up. Land go up to sky. This
first part. Puma Punku go there. Puma Punku go up land. Up and over land. Go other
side. Puma Punku
go there.
Puma Juanita is referring to the mountain at the edge of the forest……
Puma Punku: Yes, Puma Punku see. Puma Punku go up and over high land.
Puma Juanita
then points to the next patchwork on the Quilt.
Puma Juanita: After Puma Punku on other side, Puma Punku see this. Puma Punku go there see?……
